How should an open bottle of merlot be kept?
should I store it in the refrigerator? What kind of Wine could be kept in the refrigerator after being open?
do not keep any bottle of merlot (or any red wine) in the refrigerator. It’s too cold. You want to keep your red wine at about 60 degrees….give or take a few. I keep all my unopened red wine in the basement…nothing fancy. Just a couple of shelves. It will be fine re-corked and set on the counter in the kitchen for a few days. There is a product called ‘vacu-vin’ which is a hand held pump and stopper combination that if used correctly will remove the excess from your wine and keep it a bit longer. Really, you should just pour another glass and cheers…..the only opened (or unopened) wine that should be kept in the fridge is white…and only for up to a week or so
